As a young man I wasn't taught about the Real Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. Catechesis was poor. I wasn't taught that receiving communion kneeling and on the tongue was even an option! As I matured in the Faith and read Catholic History I realised that many traditions of the Church had been consigned to the dustbin. In many of our churches the tabernacle containing the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ was shunted away into a side corner. No longer was he the centre of attention. Liturgy has become too banal and often represents a meal rather than the Sacrifice of Christ's Body and Blood. The mystery, transcendence and beauty of the Mass has gone. The tide is changing and as many young people rediscover the beauty of the Catholic Faith we will detail how the Catholic landscape is changing in our area. I worship at St Agatha's, Portsmouth and many of my posts regard this fine church.
