St Agatha’s, Portsmouth

Rescued 17C Flemish baroque style cherubs, which once adorned a Catholic chapel at Bursledon, Hampshire, now surround the 19C Annunciation scene in the sanctuary of S Agatha’s Church, Portsmouth. Other items from the Bursledon  collection await restoration and display. Next week two large carvings which include angels, swags of fruit and flowers and other decorative items, will be placed on the north wall at the west end of the church either side of the large crucifix designed by Sir Walter Tapper.
